Apple Smashes Financial Forecasts on Mac and iPhone Sales

Apple once again smashes its way passed expectations and reports high quarterly revenue and earnings.

Apple reported a net profit of $1.23 billion, or $1.35 per diluted share, on revenues of $8.34 billion for the third-quarter of 2009 ending June 27.

Apple sold 5.2 million iPhones in the quarter, a 626 percent per unit growth over the same quarter last year.

Apple also sold 10.2 million iPods, a 7 percent unit decline from the 2008 quarter. Apple however did reduce channel inventory by 400,000.
