Star Walk features include:
- AUGMENTED REALITY: digital compass of 3GS iPhone shows the sky as seen in reality and follows the moves of the user.
- TIME MACHINE: users can travel in time and observe the night sky to be a part of astronomical events like eclipses and meteor showers.
- SKY LIVE: tapping the moon-shaped button reveals moon phases, elevation, and rising data for the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn.
- PICTURE of the DAY: a push notification appears on the Star Walk icon to tell users there is a new picture.
- BOOKMARKS: lets users save a reminder of beautiful night sky observations.
- EARTH VIEW: automatic and manual selection of locations on a 3D globe.
- MOON PHASES: users select the SKY LIVE window to see the moon phases for several days.
- WIKIPEDIA LINKS: by selecting one celestial body and tapping the "i" icon users activate a magnifier to read more information. To know more a tap the Wiki icon opens the Wikipedia page.
- SEARCH: helps find celestial objects and search for stars, planets, and messier objects by their names.
